Fresno Coin Gallery began advertising themselves as family-owned around 15 years ago. They believe that the community attaches value to being family-owned because it builds trust and credibility. A few weeks ago, Stephen and Stephanie Foster gave us their take on working with family.
2013 California Family Business Awards Interviews
We attended the 2013 California Family Business Awards presented by our partner, the Institute for Family Business at Fresno State. We were introduced to some of the most influential and successful family-owned businesses in the Central Valley and were lucky enough to interview family members from Dewar’s Candy, Pappy’s Fine Foods, Horstmann Financial and Insurance Services, FTB Print & Mail, and Steele Printing.
Wonder Valley Ranch Resort And Conference Center
The Oken family purchased Wonder Valley in 1973, more than 60 years after opening as the Pierson Guest Ranch. The Okens wanted to preserve the history of the facility, maintain the strong family values upon which it was built and continue delivering excellent hospitality. There are 14 meeting areas located on the 75 acres with an estimated capacity of more than 3,000, the Wonder Valley Ranch has grown into a premiere resort and conference facility.
Johanson Transportation Service
Dick Johanson founded Johanson Transportation Service in 1971, and since has grown his company from four to over 60 staff members operating from seven offices in five states. They offer customized freight solutions in trucking, oceans and air, rail/intermodal and other comprehensive importing and exporting solutions. The family continues to operate on the business’ core values: experience, integrity, gratitude and respect.
