The Family Business Project is an initiative created to study, share and support the marketing efforts of family-owned businesses to ensure their business goals are met today and for coming generations through research, networking and educational opportunities.

For purposes of this initiative, a family-owned business is defined as a US-based business that is solely owned and primarily operated by family members whereby their decision-making processes are driven by family values rather than shareholder dividends and an expectation to pass the family business legacy to future generations.

Launched August 1, 2012, The Family Business Project is a joint project coordinated by JP Marketing in partnership with the Institute for Family Business in the Craig School of Business at California State University, Fresno.
