Royal Cup History  The company was founded in 1896 by Henry T. Batterton as the Batterton Coffee Company in Birmingham, Alabama. Henry T. Batterton was the first coffee roaster in the state of Alabama. In 1930, Mr. Batterton and his wife died in an automobile accident, and the bank took control of the company. William E.
